MISSION STATEMENT

The AMERICAN ZHU KEZHEN EDUCATION FOUNDATION was established in 1995 by some Zhejiang University alumni in the U.S.A. It was registered in California as a nonprofit public benefit corporation (with tax exemption status) in May 1995.

The Foundation is named after the late Dr. Zhu Kezhen (a.k.a. Chu Kochen and K. Z. Zu) (1890-1974) who was a Harvard educated Ph.D. meteorologist, and an eminent researcher and educator in the modern Chinese history. Professor Zhu served as the president of Zhejiang University for 13 years (1936 - 1949). Under his distinguished leadership, Zhejiang University became a top university in China.

This Foundation was established for the purpose of promoting exchange and cooperation between Zhejiang University (now the largest university in China which merged with the former Hangzhou University, Zhejiang University of Medicine and Zhejiang Agriculture University in the summer of 1998) and universities in the United States in aspects of education and scientific research.
